What if I get disconnected and have to re-register ?

We've tried to design the site to logically flow through the attendance process.  If you have to re-register, you are not billed twice!  You are only receiving credit for a single use (no matter how many times you might get disconnected) and you are only charged for a single use of the site.  The State will not allow you to attend the same class twice within the same renewal year.

Do I have to do each category within one two hour block ?

The site is designed to be used in two (2) hour blocks of time.  Our site records the date and  time at various 'triggers' within it.  If you don't have time to register; review the materials (for the required amount of time); and then submit the review answers during one 'session'; it will be more difficult to use this site (probably requiring multiple registrations, etc).

Why am I getting disconnected from the Internet ?

When using the Internet, your dial up phone connection is maintained by your Internet Service Provider (ISP)  (such as, bellsouth.net, earthlink.net, aol.com, etc.) as long as it 'senses' activity.   [Activity is when you request a page and then the host server sends you the requested page to your computer.]  Once you have the materials downloaded, there is no further 'activity' between your computer and our site until you submit the review questions (about 2 hours later...).  This will usually result in a disconnection of your dial-up connection by your ISP which we cannot control.

What can I do to keep from getting disconnected ?

Here are some tips that can reduce the chances of a disconnect.  You can periodically 'refresh' or 'reload' the materials.  This will simulate activity so that your provider 'senses' that you're still there.  You will have to remember where you were within the material as you will begin at the top again following a reload.  With some providers, during peak periods of use, this might have to be repeated about every 1/2 hour.  Again, we cannot control this.

Another suggestion would be to bookmark the category/material page (or add it to your favorites).  If you loose your connection, you can return directly to the material WITHOUT having to re-register once you re-establish your connection.

If I get disconnected, do I have to reconnect immediately ?

Maybe, maybe not... This tip (depending on your browser and ISP service) allows you to withstand the disconnect.   Yep, you can allow the disconnect to occur!! When the 're-establish connection' window pops up don't press reconnect, or cancel or the x in the corner - just leave it there.  Just go down to your taskbar and click on the browser button. The materials will still be displayed in the window and you can then review the materials in complete relaxation!!   HOWEVER, before you answer the review questions, you must RECONNECT to your provider, REFRESH THE PAGE, and THEN answer the review questions. Doing it any other way will erase your answers as the form is reloaded.

If you've been disconnected for an inordinate amount of time, the page will not be found and you will have to re-enter and re-register and return to your category to complete the review questions (unless you made the page one of your favorites or bookmarked it - just reconnect and return to the page).

My modem line is also my business line, I don't want to tie up my business line

Use this as a last resort. Just print the materials (if your printer will handle graphics) but be prepared to print up to 30 pages per category!!   [Please remember that these are copyrighted materials for your use only.]   After printing,  add the page to your "favorites" or "bookmark" the page, you can disconnect and review the materials and answer the review questions in advance on paper.  Then after the required amount of time has passed, you will have to re-enter the site, re-register, select the category, go directly to the category review, answer the questions and press the submit button or simply go directly to the bookmarked page and answer the questions.

Are there Step-by-Step Instructions ?

1. You have already found our site, selected the CEU icon and clicked on this help link, so we'll start from there.  By pressing your 'back' button on your browser you will return to where you came from.  So, you must now select the a category.

When you choose the category you need, you will enter the "Secure Commerce" area of the web site. This will sometimes cause 'security alerts' of various types depending on how you have your browser configured. WE DO USE JAVASCRIPTS! (We have another help link for security problems -- click here.)

2. You are required to complete the registration and billing authorization form.  Any errors you receive will normally be due to a required field being left blank.  Filling in your name, address and other information should be straight forward.  This information is required for the actual attendance form itself.

NOTE:  JPC Enterprises does not sell or use this information for any other purpose [other than once a year (usually in January or February), JPC Enterprises will send a postcard and/or e-mail.

There are three payment methods for your use.  You can enter your credit card information directly on the form (it's encrypted when you press the submit button), you can fax the credit card information (card number, expiration date, name as it appears on the card with a brief statement authorizing us to bill your card) to our fax machine, or you can send us a money order.  If using your credit card on the website, the information is encrypted and you are authorizing the charge of $25.00 for that category upon pressing the submit button.

If you are taking multiple categories (and tell us by using the 'now or later' buttons properly - or you e-mail us), we will not bill you until you have completed all the categories you need.

3. Upon submission of the form, you are presented with a confirmation page that informs you that you are returning to the unsecured area of the web site.  Pressing the category that you need will now take you directly to the materials.  Please be patient when the materials are loading.  We try to make the pages load as quickly as possible but most of our users have told us that they like the occasional graphic or image to break up the text periodically.  Most categories will load in under 5 minutes (depending on your connection speed -- at least 28.8K is recommended).

4. After spending the required amount of time with the materials, you will undoubtedly notice there is a category review at the end.  You must complete the category review in order to receive credit for attendance at our site.   All questions are multiple choice.  You have to select the letter for the correct response from the multiple choice answers (lower case letters only).

5. Upon submission, your review is graded.  Any incorrect answers will generate an error message.  Please read these messages carefully as they will tell you what answer was wrong. (Newer browsers should actually return your cursor to the incorrect answer field.)  After making the correction, you will have to click on the submit button again.  Your test is re-graded and it is possible to have another error.  This process will repeat itself over and over until you have all of the answers correct.

If you get the same error message and returned to the same answer several times, it will usually be due to a blank space [you can't see them] left in the answer field.  If you would push and hold your delete key and then push and hold your backspace key you should eliminate the space.  Re-enter the correct answer and press the submit button.   Upon a successful submission, you will receive a confirmation page.

There is one very important part of the review form.   We have provided two radio buttons to tell us when to process your attendance verification form (you can only choose one or the other, not both).  If you select the last category, I'm ready 'now' button, we will process the payment method you selected and prepare an attendance verification form with that single category on it.

If you tell us that you want to take more/additional categories or 'later' we will hold your attendance until you have completed the last category you need. Upon receipt of a 'now' with your last category, we will process your payment method and then prepare a single verification form with all your categories on it.

So, if you don't want to keep track of up to 5 separate verification forms, use these buttons correctly to tell us to hold the initial categories until your last one and then tell us now.  You'll also save a lot of trees, toner and postage!

6. After we receive a completed registration, verify attendance within the material and receive a completed review section, we then begin preparing your attendance verification form.  Your attendance verification form will not be mailed until after we have received payment.

Credit cards are normally processed each evening and if everything is in order, the attendance form is mailed the following day.  Upon receipt of a money order, we complete your attendance form and mail it the following day.  We do however, allow ourselves 3 - 5 business days for processing.

7. To use our site again for another category, you should re-enter at the beginning and start completely over.  Using the 'back' button will cause some of the forms to re-load and generate errors.

After using the site once and becoming familiar with how it works, most users have no problems with subsequent uses.

We hope this brief instruction area helps you with the use of our site.  If you are having problems, the best way to reach us is via e-mail: (webmaster@ceuweb.com) or
almost anytime (evenings/weekends, too) at (850)402-8994 (leave a message on the recorder).

Click here to return to entry page or use your 'back' button.

I can't  SUBMIT the review questions, what do I do

If you are experiencing problems of this nature, we ask that you send us a SHORT email with your name, date, category, stating " I cannot submit the review answers".  We will use the date and time of your email as the END time of your attendance. We will also contact you to assist in any way possible to prevent this in future categories.

How can I get in touch with you

HIGH PRIORITY- email us at webmaster@ceuweb.com

LOW PRIORITY- call or fax us at 850 / 402-8994  calls are usually returned by 9pm daily

We can also be reached at this number on weekends and some holidays.

The deadline is midnight tonight, can you help me

Yes , No and Maybe.  There are a lot of different answers, all containing a  lot of IFs. We will do what we can to help you but there are some things you will have to do also.

IF you can get your categories completed by 8pm...

IF you are paying by credit card ...

IF you have a fax available...

IF you send us an email stating the urgency...(different types of licenses have different renewal dates)

We will fax you a copy of your attendance verification form and mail you the original.  The state will accept the fax copy but will send you a letter requesting the original.  You will have the original by then. The fax copy and your payment must be postmarked to DACS no later than midnight of the deadline date.

OR

This is not reliable but...

IF you cannot get your categories completed by 8pm of the deadline date....

IF you are paying by credit card or overnight a money order...

YOU must mail in your renewal reminder and your payment to DACS postmarked no later than midnight of the deadline date WITHOUT your attendance verification form.

YOU must start your last category by midnight of the deadline date....

We will process your Attendance Verification Form and mail it directly to you.  DACS will accept your check as "received" but "incomplete" .  You will then receive a letter from DACS giving you ten (10) days to submit the Attendance Verification Form.

JPC Enterprises will not be responsible for this method as DACS can change their policies at any time and without notifying me or you

What if my time runs short of the two hours ?

Your time starts upon submission of the registration information and ends upon submission of the review answers.  It is your responsibility to monitor your time.

The state allows for two ten minute breaks.  This break time allows us to process ceus for one hour and forty minutes per category.  Any attendances shorter than 1 hr and 40 minutes WILL NOT be processed.

Can more than one person attend at the same time?

Yes.

1. Register and SUBMIT the first person.

2. Hit your BACK button, register and SUBMIT the second person.

3. We suggest you then print the material so the second person can review the material at their own pace.

4. Have the first person answer and SUBMIT the review questions.

5. Hit your BACK button and have the second person answer and SUBMIT the review questions.

Do you get much feedback from your users ?

We not only get feedback, we go looking for it.  We routinely make calls to review material content, program suggestions and preferred material topics for upcoming years.  Expect a call.

Where do you get your topic ideas ?

Multiple resources.  User preferences sent to us by email ,  DACS may put in a request for an area they want to see  publicized, current events, industry requests ... whatever topic we do choose we try to keep it accurate, informative, useful and interesting.
